Its acclaim is absolutely well deserved too. There is simply no other title that does it like MSFS 2020 with its unmatched realism, incredible visuals and genuinely entertaining gameplay. But gamers and flight sim enthusiasts are always looking for ways to level up their immersion. One surefire way to make your purchase go the extra mile is through the use of add-ons or mods. These can range from graphical changes, to new gameplay elements all the way to adding new assets (like new planes) into the game.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/www.simulatorhardware.com\/images\/fsltl-live-traffic-now-available-for-msfs2020.jpg\" alt=\"FSLTL Live Traffic released for MSFS\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Microsoft Flight Sim has a thriving mod community, aided of course by how popular the franchise has become. It\u2019s a visual, gameplay and quality of life modification for MSFS 2020 that seeks primarily to boost how immersive the game feels. But what does \u201clive traffic\u201d mean, you say? The add-on can use real-world, real-time flight data to populate the skies in Flight Sim. Essentially, the planes that you will see around you will actually be airborne in real life at that time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>It\u2019s crazier than it sounds, because FSLTL doubles down on this feature with an impressive visual introduction. FSLTL boasts nearly a thousand liveries bearing the colors, flags and branding of the biggest international and regional airlines. Expect to see the giants of the aviation world like Qatar Airways, American Airlines, Delta, Air France and on top of that you also get jets from the logistics world like from FedEx and CLA. Airports should get more crowded as well, making the game feel more lifelike than it already is. All the liveries are built from the ground up in full 4K with PBR texture effects. Aside from how the plane interacts with the ground services and jetways, the former brings true to life effects in take-off and landing, with lighting, contrails and heat haze too. The latter brings authentic sounds typical of the custom aircraft including start-up, shutdown and spool-up sounds as well as sounds the plane would make when its idle.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"fsltl-vs-aig-%E2%80%93-we-got-competition!\"><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"FSLTL_vs_AIG_%E2%80%93_We_got_Competition\"><\/span>FSLTL vs AIG \u2013 We got Competition!<span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>AIG Traffic Model Matching is also a live traffic injection system and it\u2019s been available for considerably longer than FSLTL. Here\u2019s what we learned about the two in contrast to each other;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul>\n<li>Both perform amicably. Despite FSLTL being so new they\u2019ve managed to make it work well enough that there\u2019s no crashes or game breaking bugs. Interestingly enough, FSLTL fires up a lot faster than AIG. Think about half a minute on the former compared to several minutes on the latter. But other than the loading times, they\u2019re neck and neck.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>AIG has a considerably bigger library to its advantage.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>AIG airports feel fuller, so ground traffic works a little better.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When FSLTL injects aircraft into the game they will spawn at altitude, you will even see their contrails in the sky as they fly above you.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>FSLTL custom sounds sound a lot better than AIG, the sound team gets a lot of credit for this one.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Here\u2019s a YouTube video pitting the two technologies against each other.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-embed is-type-video is-provider-youtube wp-block-embed-youtube wp-embed-aspect-16-9 wp-has-aspect-ratio\"><div class=\"wp-block-embed__wrapper\">\n<iframe loading=\"lazy\" title=\"Which Is Better? If you have AIG folders in the Community folder and nothing 1 to 1 in the FSLTL folder, the game will fall back to your AIG options if it can\u2019t find the right FSLTL match. Historic and virtual airlines are only for VATSIM use and are included at half the resolution (2K instead of 4K) compared to the liveries mentioned previously.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To everyone asking if FSLTL can be used on Xbox, the answer is unfortunately no. Mods on consoles are hard to come by in the first place. I can only remember Skyrim and Fallout 4 having a mod community on the Xbox consoles off the top of my head that is similar to modding on PC. Even though MSFS 2020 on Xbox does technically support mods through the Xbox Marketplace, it\u2019s not nearly the same thing. Plus, a lot of them cost a lot of money, while FSLTL is free. Regardless, there are no plans on present by Microsoft or the FSLTL developers to bring FSLTL mods to Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020 on Xbox Series X\/S.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>FSLTL Aircrafts cannot be used as User-Flyable.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The developers make bold claims about FSLTL not adversely effecting performance, but we recommend your PC has enough resources at its disposal when deciding to run any title with third party add-ons because your FPS count may very well take a hit.
