ASUS RTX 4070 Super OC 12GB vs Gigabyte RTX 5090 Gaming OC 32G for MSFS: RTX 5090 wins by 9.2 points.
The RTX 5090 rates 40/100 against the RTX 4070 Super's 30.8/100 on our model-derived scale, a 9.2-point gap that translates to meaningfully steadier frame times when MSFS is hammering both the CPU and GPU simultaneously. The RTX 4070 Super holds its own on VFR cross-country legs over sparse terrain at 1440p, where its 12GB VRAM ceiling isn't a bottleneck and mid-range pricing leaves budget for peripherals. The RTX 5090's 32GB GDDR7 buffer and raw throughput pull ahead decisively during VR city flyovers over dense photogrammetry zones like central London or Tokyo, and through peak AI traffic loads on VATSIM approaches into EGLL or KLAX.
Choose ASUS RTX 4070 Super OC if…
Choose ASUS Dual GeForce RTX 4070 Super OC Edition 12GB GDDR6X Graphics Card if you fly primarily at 1440p on VFR cross-country routes or lighter GA traffic patterns where the 4070 Super's mid-range positioning covers all your frame-time needs without overspending.
Choose Gigabyte RTX 5090 Gaming OC if…
Choose Gigabyte GeForce RTX 5090 Gaming OC 32G Graphics Card if you fly in VR through high-density photogrammetry cities, push 4K ultra settings at congested hubs like EGLL or OMDB, or run heavy AI and live traffic loads where the 32GB VRAM buffer prevents stutter.
Our take
The Gigabyte RTX 5090 Gaming OC leads by 9.2 points on our model-derived scale and is the clear recommendation for most MSFS pilots — buy it.
